The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone

Review of The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone

Title: The Hatching
Author: Ezekiel Boone
Genre: Fiction

I love monster movies and epidemic movies, and The Hatching is both of those things in book form.

There are millions of man-eating, prehistoric spiders hatching around the world. This is bad news for humanity, obvs.

This book has everything I want in a monster epidemic: a small problem that spreads and quickly gets out of control; a cop with a heart of gold; a brilliant scientist; and of course gore. One scene in particular involving a person's nose is really sticking with me. The characters are all pretty flat, but that's fine because what I wanted from this book was MAN-EATING SPIDERS. And oh boy, did it deliver.

My ONLY problem with this book is that it's a series, and this one ends in a cliffhanger, right after my favourite part where humanity is like, "It's going to be okay! ... Oh shit, this problem is way worse than we thought, maybe we're fucked after all!" I was ready for humanity to rally and the scientists to get their shit together, and then it ended.

But lucky for you, the sequel comes out on May 30!

Buy or borrow this one!
