Scythe, by Neal Shusterman

Title: Scythe
Author: Neal Shusterman
Genre: YA

It's the future, and Skynet exists, but people call it the Thunderhead. And it appears to be less malevolent than Sarah Connor's version. In fact, the Thunderhead has helped humanity conquer poverty, hunger, and death.

Of course, this creates a bit of an overcrowding problem, which is where the Scythes come in. They are specially trained to "glean" people in order to keep the population under control.

Citra and Rowan are both chosen as a Scythe's apprentices, and they quickly realize that the Scythedom has an internal problem, in the form of a very charming psychopath who's gathering more and more followers.

Basically Neal Shusterman is amazing and this book is amazing and you will not want to put it down so book a couple of days off work.

Buy it. You will thank me later.

VERDICT:

Five Brass Knuckles

Full disclosure: I bought it with my own money because money spent on books totally does not count toward my overall budget.
