City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong

Review of City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong: And then the sheriff is all, "OH did I forget to mention we have a serial killer?? Ha ha ha oops PLEASE HELP ME."

Title: City of the Lost
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Genre: Fiction / Mystery

There's a town in the Yukon, in the middle of nowhere. It has no technology - the residents of Rockton are completely cut off from the rest of the world. But that's the way they like it, because they are all there to hide.

Casey is a police detective with a shady past - she killed someone before she became a cop. He was a REAL fuckface though, so you still like her.

Casey accompanies a friend to Rockton, hoping they can both escape their pasts. But, like most women, Casey cannot take a break for five fucking minutes. The sheriff immediately puts her to work because a serial killer is murdering residents in pretty grisly ways.

And then the sheriff is all, "OH did I forget to mention we have a serial killer?? Ha ha ha oops PLEASE HELP ME."

I love Kelley Armstrong. She is a very reliable source of great heroines, tons of suspense, and great sexual tension - and she delivers all three here. PLUS there are a couple of well-planned plot twists.

This book kept me up late several nights in a row - it's non-stop action, and it's pretty awesome. Buy it on Amazon here!

VERDICT:

4/5 Brass Knuckles

Full disclosure: Penguin Canada gave me a review copy because I am super legit.
