Title: The Sin Eater's daughter
Author: Melinda Salisbury
I read this book because THE COVER. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there.
Twylla is engaged to a prince. This should make her super popular, but everyone at court is afraid of her because, as the Goddess embodied, she kills anyone she touches. Members of the royal family are conveniently immune.
You shouldn't read this book, so allow me to summarize it for you, before the cover art tricks you into wasting your time on it.
Twylla: BOO HOO no one likes me, the queen is a meanie who makes me execute prisoners. I theoretically have incredible power, but I can't think of anything to do except MOPE.
Prince: Maybe I really like you. NOW I WILL IGNORE YOU FOR A WEEK. Wait, I like you and I've remembered you exist! Plot against the queen with me!
Guard: I inexplicably also like you, even though all you do is mope and act snotty.
Twylla: I don't know what to do, so I choose to do NOTHING.
At the end, a BIG SECRET is revealed. Too bad that big secret also reveals MASSIVE PLOT HOLES.
This is the first book in a series. I'm going to make an educated guess that none of them are worth reading.
