Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Review of Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1) by Robin LaFevers

Title: Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1)
Author: Robin LaFevers
Genre: YA

Ismae escapes an arranged marriage to a pig farmer, and ends up at the convent of St. Mortain. Here, women sired by the god of death are trained as unbeatable assassins.

I ASSUME YOU ARE SOLD.

I'll tell you more anyhow. After her training, Ismae is sent to the court of Brittany where she must navigate noble politics and find her new mark. But the man she was sent to kill seems to be on the right side, supporting the Duchess. Also he is pretty fucking hot.

So what's an assassin-nun to do? KICK SOME ASS, that's what.

The second and third books in this trilogy follow different main characters, which was disappointing to me at first because I loved Ismae so much. But LaFevers has a talent for writing really fucking engaging characters. ALL of the books in this trilogy are great. The final book moves more slowly than the other two, but it's still a good finish to the series.

But the BEST part is that all three books have already been released, so no waiting for you!

Book 1: Grave Mercy

Book 2: Dark Triumph

Book 3: Mortal Heart

VERDICT:

4/5 Brass Knuckles
