The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Title: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown
Author: Holly Black
Genre: YA

I don't know about you, but I'm fucking sick of vampires. HOWEVER, I still loved this book, because it's about good old-fashioned bloodthirsty scary monster vampires. And also Tana, the heroine, fucking kicks ass.

Here's the gist. Vampires exist, and they are pretty goddamn scary, so most countries have quarantined them inside walled Coldtowns. People can go there too, but once you go in, you never get to leave. People do stupid shit sometimes.

Tana is fucking tough, but when she wakes up in a house full of people who've been slaughtered by vamps, she's pretty freaked. Then she finds her ex-boyfriend, who is alive but turning into a vamp. He's also tied up and probably the next course on the menu. Here's where I'd be like, "Ha ha!! Karma, asshole! SEE YA."

But Tana is a better person than me. She shoves his ass in her car and takes a road trip to deposit him in the nearest Coldtown. And she will also save a vampire. But he seems mostly nice. Maybe also crazy. Probably a 50-50 mix. He does NOT sparkle, and that's what COUNTS.

This book is the shit. This book would rip Edward Cullen to fucking pieces and then stomp those pieces into the dirt. I like that about this book. You will, too.

Buy it.

VERDICT:

5/5 Brass Knuckles

Full disclosure: I stole my sister's copy.
